At home

Andrew’s hobbies include mountain climbing, mountain biking and anything to do with the great outdoors, which is why he was a scout leader for a number of years. He also helps his son (Connor) with his basketball training, though often relegated to just being the ball catcher! Andrew is also a keen follower of the Leeds Rhinos.

Andrew shares a love of travel with Sarah, and this has helped him build his collection of Hard Rock CafĂŠ pins and T Shirts. He only buys them if he has personally visited the CafĂŠ and has over 80!

In September 2009, Andrew and his father climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, raising money for the Martin House Hospice in Boston Spa. In July 2011, Andrew and his wife Sarah completed a cycle ride from London to Paris, this time raising money for Help 4 Heroes. In October 2018, He led the Berry & Oak team to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and raised over £3,200 for St Gemma’s Hospice.

To relax, Andrew likes to watch a wide variety of films, practically any sport and sit back with a nice glass of Malbec, or malt whisky (one ice cube).

In the spotlight

What does a day in the life of a Financial Planner look like?

Unsurprisingly, every day is different as, whilst to an outsider it might look like our clients all need the same thing, there are subtle differences to what they need and where they are on their journey. Most of my time is spent in face-to-face meetings with my clients and then, after the meeting, discussing with the team the best way to ensure that client’s goals are achieved and putting the plan into action.

What do you like about working at Berry & Oak?

We are able to have a huge positive impact on our clients lives, by working as a dedicated team who are all focused on helping our clients.

What are your top three life highlights so far?

Getting married to Sarah, at the Ice Hotel in Sweden. Our family trip around China in 2015. Standing at the top of Kilimanjaro.

Is there an ability you wish you had?

For me to think and the words appear on the document on my computer, so I don’t have to type them!

Which song gets you on the dancefloor?

Don’t tell anyone, but if I’m in the right mood – anything!! Otherwise Mr Brightside by The Killers breaks the ice.

What’s currently top of your bucket list?

To climb Aconcagua in South America.

Do you have a talent people would be surprised to know about?

I’m the family Monopoly champion. A crown I’m not giving away easily.
