My Work Experience week with Berry & Oak – By Anya

At Berry & Oak we are constantly striving to encourage interest within the financial services profession, especially when it comes to encouraging young enthusiastic talent to consider a future career in the financial profession.

Anya Smith, an A level student from Brigshaw High School joined us last week for a week’s work experience. Anya has been thinking about her options for when she leaves school later this year and we suggested to her that it might be useful to come and do a few days’ work experience with us to see what it is like working in a financial planning business. Anya spent the week assisting our administration team and sitting in a number of client meetings to develop an insight into our profession and what we do for our clients.

Anya was very enthusiastic and keen to learn she very quickly settled into the team and came across very well in her interactions with our clients.

When we asked Anya to reflect on her week at Berry & Oak, she said

“During my week of work experience at Berry & Oak, I was made to feel very welcome by both the team and the clients I was lucky enough to meet.

It became clear very quickly that customer service is at the heart of the business as they go above and beyond to fulfil the needs of each individual.

Throughout the week I worked alongside the team as well as independently, something which I enjoyed most as it helped me to learn and understand the different concepts within the working environment.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the team, particularly Andrew and Sarah for giving me the opportunity to join them. This opportunity has certainly shown me that financial services is the sector I would like to join in the future” .

We are pleased we have helped inspire Anya inspired to consider the financial services industry as a career and wish her every success in the future.
