St Gemma’s Hospice

Berry & Oak are proud to be supporting St Gemma’s Hospice, who are our local charity of choice for 2018.

Berry & Oak staff will be giving up some of their time to help out in the St Gemma’s shops.

We will also be helping to raise funds for this great charity by undertaking several activities during the year, more of which we will be sharing in due course. Our biggest challenge will be to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 13th October 2018.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1585m (5200ft) feet of climbing. We will be faced with rocky terrain, steep climbs and uneven surfaces. We will climb Pen-y-Ghent which is (694m/2277ft), Whernside which is (736m/2415ft), then finally we will climb Ingleborough (723m 2372 ft). We aim to do all this in under 12 hours.

We will be hiking and climbing this because, if raising money helps even just one family, by saving a life, or eliminating the suffering and pain of losing their loved ones, it is enough to make us climb a thousand mountains.

Please visit our fund-raising page to keep updated on our progress and it has details on how you can help support us if you feel able to make a donation. Thank You

About St Gemma’s

St Gemma’s provide the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses – both at the Hospice and out in the community.

They offer care tailored to the needs of their patients, and their carer’s in their Hospice’s 32 bed In-Patient Unit, through the St Gemma’s community team and via their day services, which includes a Day Hospice and Out-Patient Department.

Their care is always provided free-of-charge and is open to patients of all beliefs, religions and cultures.

St Gemma’s is a Leeds-based charity, providing all their services for free – therefore they rely on the support and generosity of the community to help them raise the funds needed, which is a staggering £9million each year to keep their doors open.
