Sarah is the Founder of Berry & Oak, along with her husband Andrew. She’s an Independent Financial Adviser based in the Boston Spa office which she also runs. Sarah also has previous experience as a Bank Manager.
Sarah’s organisational skills and eye for detail have helped to create a highly organised business that allows the team to deliver a high quality and consistent service to clients.
Sarah also liaises with external specialists as required, to ensure clients get the best possible care. The end result is a firm that makes it easy for clients to do business with, and builds trust by doing what it says, when it says it will do so.
Sarah enjoys running and hopes one day to be able to run a marathon. She is also the team manager for her son’s team at the City of Leeds Basketball Club (who Berry & Oak are also proud to sponsor) and enjoys photography and spending time with her family and friends.
In July 2011, both Sarah and her husband, Andrew, cycled from London to Paris raising money for Help 4 Heroes.
What do you like about working at Berry & Oak?
I enjoy seeing how the planning that we do with our clients can help them get the most from their lives – whether it be knowing they can retire early, or take that holiday of a lifetime.
What does the day in the life of a Financial Planner and Company Director look like?
For me every day is very different. Some days I meet with clients and help them plan what their future looks like, another day I could be writing the company newsletter, or reviewing the business strategy for the next quarter. It’s my responsibility to set the vision for the business and keep us on track. I’m passionate about building a team that reflects our culture, lives our values and strives to be the very best.
What are your top three life highlights so far?
1. Marrying Andrew at the Ice Hotel in Sweden
2. Becoming a mum. I’m so grateful we have such an amazing son who constantly amazes me.
3. Walking along the Great Wall of China – incredible!
What is an ability you wish you had?
To be able to fly like Superman, where I could travel anywhere on a whim and see the world from a bird’s eye view.
What’s currently top of your bucket list?
I would love to go back to Chengdu in China and spend some time volunteering with Pandas International, supporting the work that they do with the giant Panda (and have the opportunity to get close to these amazing animals)
Which song gets you on the dancefloor?
It would have to be Mr Brightside by The Killers – every time! It’s also Andrew’s favourite song so the best way for me to get him up on the dance floor with me.
What’s the one talent you have, that people would be surprised to know about you?
That I’m a second Dan in Karate!
